Follow the outer ring road (A64 on the south and east sides of the city, A1237 around the north and west) to the junction with the Hull/Bridlington roads (A1079/A166). Turn off at the exit marked University and follow the signs towards the city centre and the Grimston Bar park and ride. Turn left towards the Park and Ride and go straight across the roundabout to enter the Heslington East. You will see the Sports Village on your left. Cross the next roundabout and take a ticket at the barriers. The car parks are further along this road on the left and right hand side.
Follow University Road towards Heslington Hall. Turn left at the roundabout, onto Field Lane, and follow the road past St Paul’s Church, going straight ahead at the traffic lights. Turn left (straight on) at the next roundabout (nb you cannot access Heslington East from this roundabout) and then right by the BP garage. Go through the set of traffic lights by B&Q and then turn right, signposted to the Sports Village and the Park and Ride. Go straight across the roundabout to enter the Heslington East campus. Go past the Sports Village, on your left hand side, cross the next roundabout and take a ticket at the barriers. The car parks are further along this road on the right and left hand side.
Those accessing Heslington East by car, please note that the main access to the Kimberlow Lane Pay & Display Car Park is now from the Badger Hill/Field Lane entrance near Langwith College not from the York Sport Village/A1079. Parking is also available in the Catalyst Car Park, accessed from Goodricke Lane on Heslington East. However, please note that these spaces are limited. Parking is free throughout the festival weekend on campus. Disabled and close proximity parking is available upon request – please contact us if you require mobility assistance. The Department of Theatre, Film and Television is wheelchair accessible.
Visitors to Heslington East should board the number 66 First York bus which originates at the York Rail Station, travelling to Heslington East via University Road. The bus stops right outside TFTV on its first stop on the Heslington East Campus. The timetable can be downloaded from the First Group website. The Unibus provides a free shuttle service from any bus stop on University Road to the Heslington East campus.
Heslington East is half a mile (800m) from Heslington Hall along the shared walking/cycle route to Field Lane. This route takes approximately 12 minutes to walk. For more information please see the University’s website.
